The Commission on Elections ruled yesterday Obet Pagdanganan won the 2007 mid-term elections over the sitting provincial leader Gov. Joselito Mendoza.
The governor’s term is about to end June next year. Is this what they call swift justice?

Within hours of her declaration that she was running for Congress in May, a firestorm of criticism swirled around GMA.
Answer this:
- She is drunk with power.
- She just would like to shield herself from lawsuits as being a congresswoman means having juridical immunity to all these.
- She would like to lead a change in the Charter and eventually be elected as the Prime Minister.
- All of the above.
Your answer is as good as mine.

Inflation likely accelerated last month due to supply disruptions from recent storms and higher oil prices but stayed within central bank projections, analysts said.
For sure, the government has an alibi to this, anew. And it will never be those-in-power’s fault.

Ramoncito Arenas, son of socialite Rosemarie “Baby” Arenas, will run for congressman of the Second District of Iloilo.
Who is he? Will the people in the second district again allow another “alien” to speak for them in Congress?

Many countries have backed out from the Philippines International Mathematics Competition that Iloilo City has hosted with the Maguindanao massacre as the main culprit.
Well, many foreigners still unfairly believe that massacres in the architectural level of that of Ampatuan’s can happen in other parts of the country. Unfair, yes; but that’s the common sentiment abroad.

Jed Patrick Mabilog is said to be the man to watch in May 2010.

Good thing Mel Carreon discontinued his plan and Eddie Gil did not re-file for the top post. Or else, it will be extreme circus galore 2010 to the max.

About a hundred campus paper writers held a prayer rally and candle lighting activity last week to pay tribute to the 30 fallen members of the media and civilians in the Maguindanao massacre.
It was a gruesome murder indeed that no amount of words can describe. Sad thing is, the main suspects are still out there scot-free.

Obama has allowed thousands more of troops to Afghanistan.
Sounds Bush to me. Where’s the “change” there now?

Joke of the day
At the trial, the engineer insisted that he had given the driver ample warning by waving his lantern back and forth for nearly a minute. He even stood and convincingly demonstrated how he’d done it. The court believed his story, and the suit was dismissed.
“Congratulations,” the lawyer said to the engineer when it was over. “You did superbly under cross-examination.”
“Thanks,” he said, “but the plaintiff’s lawyer sure had me worried.”
“How’s that?” the lawyer asked.
“I was afraid he was going to ask if the lantern was lit!”
